Friday’s pieces 01/11

  1. We love hide-and-seek in our house. Last night, there was a rousing before-bed game. I had to go find them, and this is what I found. Haha!
  2. On Wednesday, I posted about how I’ve been decluttering a ton. Slowly but surely my house is getting a little more organized. I had some hardcover cookbooks that I was keeping for 3 or 4 recipes. Life hack: I found and saved the recipes on Pinterest and got rid of the cookbooks.
  3. The other day, Nora insisted on being held while taking a nap. So instead of cleaning, I watched two hours of Netflix in front of a fire with a sleeping baby on my lap. There are definitely worse ways to spend an afternoon!
  4. I made the yummiest soup last weekend! Tim referred to it as heart-stopping, but I’ll just ignore that. This bacon beer cheese broccoli cheddar soup was amazing. Yes, you read that right, there is cheese in the name twice. Just the way I like it.
  5. It’s been down to freezing (or below) at night, and Noah’s room doesn’t have a heater. So we had been letting him sleep on his toddler airbed in Nora’s room. A couple days ago, we finally came to the conclusion that it isn’t going to be getting any warmer soon, so we just moved his bed into her room. It seems to be working so far?
  6. Here’s what I can say about Noah: Can I store my kid until this phase is over? Ugh.
  7. Nora seems to be going through a mental leap. She’s sleeping a lot and is really fussy when she is awake. I think she’s also getting four teeth. The fun never ends, ya know?
  8. My daughter with the large head has mostly outgrown the traditional elastic-and-flower headbands, but the fabric ones still fit. That realization sent me down the Pinterest rabbit hole, and I came up with this knot headband and this bow headband. Yup, I’ll just add those to the never-ending to-sew list.
  9. Thanks to decluttering and kids, I haven’t sewn anything since December 31st. I did, however, write “sew” on my to-do list, so I’ll get back to it soon.
  10. We have a cooking class tonight and then more cleaning-out this weekend. I’ve got to tackle the food shelves and go through a couple more cookbooks before the kitchen is done. Wish me luck!
